Reminds me of when my wisdom teeth were removed. The oral surgeon said "Now I have to inform you that there's a one half of one percent (1 in 200) chance that you'll lose all feeling in your mouth and have to learn to talk again"
I asked him if that's ever happened to him, and he said not to worry. He's done 199 of them and he's never seen it!!

I have been having a reoccurring problem with these,

I would look long and hard into every possible cause of the problem before I went ahead with it. Check allergy issues, sinus problems, Acid reflux, and anything else that could possibly be the actual cause.

Brad
I love doctor's and their documents. One had me sign a waiver when he was treating my son. I said for what. He explained that the medication might kill my son and that i knew the risks beforehand and wouldn't sue. I signed it and told him not to worry. I wouldn't sue him under any circumstances. He said thank you or some thing and went to give him the injection. I then whispered to him if he hurt my son I'd kill him, his family and his dog. End of conversation and a real nervous look on his face. Joey laughed though.
Sorry to threadjack a bit but this is the same doctor who one time was treating my youngest daughter (3) while my middle boy (7) and i waited in the waiting room. anyways she starts screaming and crying in there. next thing i know he leaps from his chair runs in there and returns with my daughter comforting her the whole time. my wife who was with my daughter at the time said mike busted into the room punched the doctor in the penis and grabbed jenna and ran out.
Needless to say we may need another pediatrician.
Feel better bro. I hope a little laugh helped.

Yeh man I had my tonsils out at 21, and it sucked majorly. The actual surgery wasn't as bad as getting my nose and sinuses rebuilt after a wicked rugby season, but the aftereffects killed. I was (as I assume you are) on prednisone for the swelling as well as a strong antibiotic in liquid form, and of course our little buddy hydrocodone APAP. The strong antibiotic killed all the good bacterial flora and allowed a candidal ifection to set in. I developed white patches from the thrush over my tongue and throat, a high grade fever of 104, occasional spitting up of blood, and couldn't eat or swallow a damn thing, not even water. I went to the ER 6 times telling them I had Candidiasis and 6 times they said no, you're dehydrated, gave me a bag of KCl and sent me home. No sh!t I was dehdryated I couldn't take anything by mouth. On the 6th try I finally called my family doc while in the ER and he told them to admit me. He came in the next day and took one look in my throat with a penlight and said, yep you have candiasis. He sent me home with a fungal rinse and I was fine by that evening. I was even eating pizza. So I hope in the end you have a better experience than that my friend. Good luck to you.

TheFife Wrote:As some of you already know, today was the day for me to get my tonsils out. I have had throat problems my whole life, but they have been pretty bad over the last year. Finally about a month ago, the doctor decided it was time to go ahead and just take my tonsils out.
I assumed that the worst part of this surgery was the fact that I was supposed to stop smoking cigars 2 weeks before the surgery, and I won't be able to smoke again for 2-6 weeks after the surgery (I will likely heal slowly due to my Acid reflux). Unfortunately, the pain is way worse than I imagined. The vicodin does nothing.
To all the Stogie Chatters reading this. Smoke something delicious for me.
Brad You need to be on the phone with your DR telling him to up the Ante as it isnt touching the pain .... No reason to be in that kind of pain if it can be helped ......
Mmmmmm .....Morphine ......... [pimp]
At one point I got laid off from my job and got a kidney stone and had to go to the emergency room without insurance . I can remember looking at the bill and it showing $900 for a MRI and $12 for a shot of morphine and thinking .....Less MRI and more morphine !! What a crock of $hit that experience was .......Lying ba$tards

morphine is the bomb. If my local drug dealer sold it I'd be a customer.
My best day was after a morphine drip for 5 days, then immediately to percodan still stoned on Morphine. What a day. Sick and in pain I wandered the hospital for hours. They had all available hands looking for me and finally found in in pediatrics on a different floor chilling in the waiting room watching I love Lucy reruns laughing my arse off.
My grandpa passed on in 1998 from Cancer. They had the morphine tablets left in his script bottle. My little bro and I each too one and flew the coop for a night a week later.
I think that the Hospice nurse was counting tablets too!

I think that the Hospice nurse was counting tablets too! the skill is not in the drugs but in their interactions. if i were someone who abused prescription meds which of course i'm not. i'd chase an oxy 350 with a vicodin 750 2 hours later and then put a xanax into the mix about an hour after to freshen them all up.
