Humi clean
#1
With moving in to the new house, and acquiring an indoor man cave in addition to my outdoor hideaway, we decided that the humi could come indoors and be furniture in the office space.

So, I decided now would be the time to give it a clean out, not just make space for more cigars (that's a whole other thread), but actually clean it inside and out.

With the grime and dust collected over the years I must admit to being a bit embarrassed as I'm kinda fastidious in that respect, and it got me thinking.

How often do you folks clean out your humis?

Taking in to account that we put cigars in our mouths, should it be done on a regular basis? Like more than once every 5 years?

Anyway,

Here's a few pics,

Scrubbed

New seals

Polished glass (added bling)

Now time to refill and make some space .....

Looks nice Dave!

The only think I really ever do with mine is to wipe down the glass on the inside, with just a damp towel. On the outside glass, I use Windex. Normal dusting & furniture polish for the wood on the outside.

That added bling looks sweet!  Cool
An image of a Scotsman inside the humi, guarding the cigars is awesome!   Tongue   Big Grin

It was a lot of work, cleaning both the inside as well as the outside, each individual drawer and box. I must have thrown out about 20 or 30 sticks that were damaged (including some sentimental cigar gifts that I would never smoke), then the seals replacement before rearranging the whole shebang.

Soooo worth it though, and a relief to find no mould as well.

On top of that, the forgotten heroes made me shift my focus from buying more sticks to make up for the disappointing throw outs.

Highly recommend doing this.

Whisky storage next ... God only knows what I’ll find in there.
