update from cairo

One of the great things about the middle East is that everyone smokes. That's also one of the worst things, I hate the angel of cigarettes. But I can smoke a stogie anywhere. It's very cool. I like working and smoking. I'm almost done with the sticks I brought, and working through the box of romeo y julietas I picked up. At this rate I'll run out of smokes before I leave.

Glad things are going well brother.
Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers.

I'm staying in Giza, with a great view of the Pyramids. I'm making a TV show for Arabic Television. I'm amazed that they can make anything here. Every one is late all the time, and every one lies about everything. It's very difficult to get anything done here.

I keep saying the line from "Blood Diamond" in my head when ever something crappy happens. "T.I.A. This Is Africa"

Thanks

TIA used to really wind me up as it was used to justify laziness, poor work ethic and general oxygen thieves ..... and that was amount the expat community, add the fact that for the most part the whole continent have a general "what's in it for me" angle to absolutely everything they do ( what's in it for me on top of what I get paid), and I'm sure you can understand why it grates on me.

Nowadays I let it slide by, but I have enough run offs under my belt for the general population as well as the expats to know I don't take any prisoners, let's just say that if your excuse to me for not getting the job done is TIA, it better be because it's Africa and not because you have been fecking the dog.

haha, thats how i feel when they say "inshallah", god willing
Something simple like, "Can you make sure you're ontime, we only have a few hours to do this."
"I will be there on time... inshallah"
