You just got a fluke. The lighter is great with a great pencil torch flame. It just doesn't hold much. Call and tell them the prob and you want it replaced at there cost or get another type of xikar. It IS a good lighter. Sorry you had a prob. Question, is it up to high blowing out the flame? Start with it as low as it will go and when it lights, adjust it to where you want it. A torch has a learning curve.
. We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered. |

Sounds like you may have air in the tank or your fuel is turned up to high. What are you using for fuel? When you hit the ignition do you get a spark? If you hold the ignition half way down do you hear fuel?

Skipper wrote this a while ago and I saved it:
Here it is: CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR NEW TORCH LIGHTER Congratulations on your new torch lighter. This precision instrument should give you years of service with just a little care. Blazer is known worldwide for it’s supreme quality and ingenious products. Follow the suggestions outlined below and your new blazer torch will provide years of trouble-free service. (The following instructions may be applied to any butane lighter but is especially important for a torch-type lighter) REFUELING As indicated on the packaging, your new Z-Plus torch lighter insert does not contain fuel when sold. Proper fueling is 80% of the required care. First, it is important that you only use the finest quality butane fuel available. When refueling any torch lighter, use only a TRIPLE (or more) REFINED butane fuel. The ports in the lighters fuel system are extremely small and any foreign particles at all will clog the lighter & cause a malfunction. Once you obtain the correct fuel, ensure the feeder tube on your fuel can is clean from any dust or other particles. Before fueling, a simple blowing on the tube and a tap or two on a clean hard surface should do the trick Your Z-Plus torch lighter fueling port should be cleaned as well is a similar manner. Once cleaned, fill your lighter according to the enclosed instructions. . To ensure your fuel can will not get overly dirty, please ALWAYS store your butane fuel cans with the cap on. Similarly replace any cap on your lighter refueling port (The Blazer Z-Plus is stored inside a case flip top lighter such as a Zippo thereby reasonably protecting the port from dust) Please follow package instructions to adjust your torch flame height. Please note: Butane fuel can develop particles in time cause by its interaction with the can. It is therefore recommended that you use only fuel less than 18 months old. BLEEDING Next your lighter should be bled. Bleeding is the process of removing any air in the lighter fuel chamber. This procedure should be followed for any lighter being filled or refilled with butane, not just a Z-Plus or any torch. To bleed, simply turn the lighter upside down and press & hold the ignition button. Whether the lighter lights or not is not important. Only that the pick-up tube in the lighter is above the liquid butane line & gas is escaping (this is why you must turn your lighter upside down). You will find that if the lighter lit, the flame may sputter as air is being expelled & may even go out. This is quite OK. After about 5 to 7 seconds, release the ignition button, extinguish any flame and repeat the refueling process. This bleeding may be repeated as often as necessary. Your lighter is now ready for use. CORRECTING PROBLEMS Occasionally this or any torch you may have may malfunction. This is usually caused by dust or dirt. To remedy, blow on the torch head with a can of compressed air to dislodge and remove any debris. Try to get in all little crevices of the lighter. Also try tapping the lighter top down on a clean hard surface. Next, with moderate pressure, adjust the flame control on the bottom of the lighter to full off. This may help to dislodge any debris caught in that part of the fuel pickup system (the most common cause of trouble). Finally adjust the flame level to full high and light your lighter making sure to obey all safety precautions. Sometimes repeating this procedure a few times is necessary. Return your fuel/flame control adjustment to your desired/safe position. In most cases this will clear up any issue with the lighter providing years more service. it seems to be working better, it ran out of fuel this morning and i made sure to bleed, there was alot of air in the tank..and then refilled it with my vector fuel and i let it sit for about 30 seconds and after igniting it twice it started working fine..nice strong flame..so im feeling good about it..i really love the side ignition switch..it was a huge selling point to me..i hate lighters that have the switch on top..but i will still buy the perdomo thundra even though the ignition is on top but its still something i want in the future
