My little database of cigars
#1
Made this for my sister, thought I would share
http://www.strm.us/tw/cigars

A small database ( based on http://www.tiddlywiki.com/ ) of my cigar experiences - thought it ended up as a nice little tool.

I usually run it from my thumb drive via firefox (so I can save changes) and post to the web to share with friends and family.

let me know what you think,

Mike

Nice job Mike!
.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

yes, if you hit edit (can not save on my webserver)

you will see !!!Notes
I have been putting my thoughts under that section
see:
http://www.strm.us/tw/cigars#[[5%20Vegas%20Cask%20Strength%20II]]%20[[Partagas%201845%20Red]]%20About

Could Also add another section
!!!Review under that if desired (for a full review)

and you can edit Cigar Template (on a local or properly hosted version)
http://www.strm.us/tw/cigars#CigarTemplate%20About

This will change the default information areas on all new cigars

Hope that helps,

Mike

Nicely done and something I'd be interested in obtaining. It's got everything that one needs to keep tabs on a great hobby.

I've been considering building a website to keep track of the same kind of things... Allow people to mark favorite cigars, rate every cigar they try, comment on the, etc... Even make it so that retailers could make note of special sale prices on certain cigars (so that if it's one of someones favorite cigars they can be alerted)... Write plug-in's for boards like SC so that your most recently rated/commented on cigars could be shown on your profile... etc

I dunno, I have a list in Microsoft word about 4 pages long with all my ideas for it. While, I think I could sit down for 2-3 days and bust all the code out... I still have so little time to actually do it. AND i could never think of a good name for it...

Anyway! Smile It's a great start to something I think everyone would find helpful. I really don't think what is currently available really takes advantage of what can be done, I.E., Doc's Stogie Rate for the iPhone... While, I think it's the best available and use it myself daily... I think that a web based app could allow it's user base to be really expanded as well as the platforms it works on (I.E., the iPhone, PC, Mac, Android, etc)...

As a side note the TW project offers free web hosting for this type of file Tongue
http://tiddlyspot.com/

The original Project can be found here
http://www.tiddlywiki.com/

and a support group for anyone interested in modifying
http://groups.google.com/group/TiddlyWiki

I appreciate the feedback !
