Took the plunge
#1
So, the wife was getting sick of all my cigar paraphernalia taking up our family room.  She's tolerated it to this point, as being "part of the business" of being a cigar rep.  She then stubbed her toe on my 48 qt cooler, and made mention of me getting a wine cooler to store all my smokes in to clean up the mess that is my cigar storage.  I currently have a 400 ct havana foot locker, a 48 qt cooler, 2-100 ct humidors and a 50 ct reyes family cigars humidor, all stuffed to the brim.  So I ordered an Edgestar thermo-electric 28 bottle wine cooler.  The only "stipulation was that I have to get rid of the cooler, and put the wine-a-dor in my office next to my beer fridge.  Done deal!  The wine cooler shipped today, and I can't wait to get it here and setup!

Hijack on:

John, check Target's web site. http://www.target.com/Emerson-12-Bottle-Wine-Fridge/dp/B001ARYX00/ref=sc_ri_4?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=1AYK83MZD1WSBZFWQN2G&pf_rd_p=471801991&pf_rd_i=B000G1WB5K&pf_rd_s=bottom-11&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=201

I believe this is what Carl uses and I have been looking at it too. The site will also tell you whether your local Target's has them in stock. I've been meaning to get over there to look at this in person. There are larger ones too.

And take a look at this one. I like the wooden shelves it already has installed. Not cedar, but that can be added. http://www.target.com/Emerson-12-Bottle-Wine-Fridge/dp/B001ARYX00/ref=sc_ri_4?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=1AYK83MZD1WSBZFWQN2G&pf_rd_p=471801991&pf_rd_i=B000G1WB5K&pf_rd_s=bottom-11&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=201

Hijack off. My appologies Scott.

No worries brotha! I bought my edgestar (which is virtually identical to a vinotemp) for $200 shipped here:
http://www.compactappliance.com/EdgeStar...ne_Coolers

It looks like that special is over... Its now listed at $259 with free shipping.  Looks like I got in just in time.  $259 is a reasonable price, but I got mine for $200 Smile  I need to order a couple pounds of beads and some fans... I will be taking lots of pics and documenting it on www.cigarchoice.net just to show others how to do it.

I saw a cool idea for fans on another site.  Since OUst fans are getting to be so hard to find, a guy used one of those lap top cooling pads.  He stood it up in the back of the fridge.  They can be had for fairly cheap.  You can run the cord thru the vent hole in the bottom.  That is what he did I think.

It looks like most of the ones available are powered by a USB plug, but you can get adapters, see the link below.

I havent tried this out, but seems like it should work good.  The fans wouldnt cycle on and off like the Oust fans, but that shouldnt be a problem.

Good luck.  I think you will be very happy with your new wine-ador.  Temperature control is awesome.

here is the adapter http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?ca...&sku=22328

here is are some pads at Best Buy  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;...ies&ks=960

Good Luck with the new fridge.  I kept mine for less than a year before going to a cabinet humidor.  Once you see all of those boxes stacked neatly in the fridge, it gives you a lot of bad ideas!
