Newbie needs some advise
#11
Welcome to SC. Good to have you.
Cigar boxes are an almost dead even split between Spanish Cedar or Honduras Mahogany. You can tell just by smelling them, Spanish cedar is much more aromatic which is why it was originaly thought to be cedar rather than what it truly is (part of the Mahogany family)  and  usually has a slighly red hue as opposed to a white hue in the Honduras Mahogany.  As for the paint. I agree with the other guys, If it smells bad, keep it away from your smokes.

And you didn't ask Neebie questions at all. There is no such thing.

Not a person in here was born knowing these things...we all have to learn somewhere.

Just a little FYI: as far as all boxes being Spanish cedar...Not entirely true...Some are made of less expensive cedar, some not cedar at all, and some paper wrapped boxes (most actually) are hardened press board. They leave a piece of exposed cedar laminate to trick us!

them bastards.
