Wrappers in Humidor's?
#1
Hello All,

I am new to this forum and a beginner when it comes to cigar smoking. My question is if most people keep the wrappers on their smokes in their humidor's or do you take them off? I look forward to your responses.

Thanks,

Rob

I'm guessing you're referring to the cellophane that they put on most...but not all cigars...

many people ask that question...here is another thread about the topic...http://www.stogiechat.com/cigar-forum/view_topic.php?id=16812&forum_id=6

I leave them on myself...it helps to protect the cigars during handling.

Welcome from Tampa Bay!

I've been seriously into cigars for a little over a year now and have been experimenting with the cellophane question, leaving some on and some off. I don't really see a big difference in taste - yet. Perhaps because I have not had enough time to age cigars to the point where there would be a difference.

Logically speaking, I think cigars will age more consistantly over long periods without the cellophane. And I think they will reach an aged state faster without it. Now, if you expect to handle the cigars before it's time to smoke them, that's  different. I'd leave the cellophane on because it can protect them from damage.

The best of both worlds might be had by clipping off the cellophane at both ends. That way, humidity may get to the tobacco through the ends while leaving the sides of the cigar wrapped for protection.

Enjoy the board! Glad you found us.
