clarkoz Wrote:I enjoy the forums that I have posted on and the information is great, but too bad it is closed to anyone new to the forum. IF YOU DO NOT WANT SOMEONE SELLING CIGARS ON HERE YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THE OPTION AVAILABLE!!! Sounds just like a bunch of liberals to me...you have something set up, but that's not really what it is or means...LOL! There is nothing wrong with being a liberal, thank you very kindly . Though most of the rest of the SC.com staff may not agree with me on this, and so insulting them as such may not be the best way to get your point across.![]() [lol] Now on to the more serious matters at hand: Now you are right, Clark, it doesnt have any rules regarding a post count. I will bring that aspect up with the other moderators and we might consider making one. Fishhound is right, maybe in the best interestes of our growing community, it might be time to lay out some ground rules. I will mention that most of the transactions in this forum between private members in this forum are usually done at or below cost, more of a "making space in your humidor" type transaction, than a making a profit type thing. For better or for worse that leads our membership to shy away from other deals. This is meant as no offense to you regarding that, just a heads up for future reference. On the other hand, if you are a retailer please identify yourself as such. Also if everyone wouldnt mind: In the future, if you are not actually interested in the deals being transacted in this forum, please refrain from posting in the thread, just move on to something that does interest you. If you see something that honestly concerns you, please just PM a moderator or administrator. Thanks a bunch! TomC I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

clarkoz Wrote:Fellas...fellas...fellas...You truly misunderstand. This is far from a closed fraternity, but do you really expect that you are going to come here and hawk a Humidor of cigars for $1200 dollars that is only worth $600 at best and not get negative comments. See for yourself: Google search: LGC Limitada Price gouges will not fair well here or any cigar board for that matter. I also might add there is no shortage of these humidors as the stopped making them because there was no demand for them. There are plenty around to buy. ________________________________________________________________ What's the point in arguing or trying to make sense of something that is lost? |

I thought the Retailers Specials was a section where the posts were meant to be read and not necessarily commented on, where the Cigar Actions Online was a section that by its nature invited participation. I for one love the fact that when someone comes to this section with the intention of gouging, more informed members are quick to point that out. It shows the SC community looks out for each other. |

clarkoz Wrote:I just found a BRAND NEW humidor set full of La Gloria Cubana Serie R Limitada's from 2005 at an old cigar shop. It is No. 544 of 700 made. It comes complete w/ 3 cellophaned trays w/ 30 cellophaned cigs in them inside a Limited Edition Ernesto Perez-Carillo Humidor with the N 544/700 label on the front left. This is the way it came from La Gloria 3 years ago!!! We are happy to have your here. But we would like straightforwardness and honesty. Its ironic in your first statement you state"you just found" this set. Yet later you say you cannot bring yourself to breaking it up by the stick. Either you are a retailer and this is in your shop or you plan to sell and make an obscene profit. Making a profit is fine. Our point here as a community is that we would rather have you introduce yourself and get a feel for the community first. You introduced yourself but the rest has not fallen into place. We here are trying to help one another obtain sticks. We don't pay inflated prices for Anejo's for example. And we are a savy bunch and we know what smokes are worth. I for example, found Anejo #55's for $12 stick. I bought the box and passed along the same price to my fellow BOTL's cause that is what everyone here does. We are not a closed fraternity. But we have a code. We operate by that code and we respect each other. We are also friends. These La Gloria are not worth your asking price and we would not pay as such! But for clarification, and just so you know, you are welcome here with a clean slate. But you will get hammered for offering deals such as this in the future. |

Some very good points are brought up in this thread. I think it may be time to set some rules here, which will be posted soon.
In the meantime, let me chime in. The Cigar Auctions Online is open for anyone to post what they want to sell/auction off to the members. Its more of a personal transaction, as we have a retailer section for the stores who are selling cigars. Because this is a public forum, every post is subject to public scrutiny. Thats especially true when the post is from a new member who is offering to sell a bunch of cigars for over a thosand dollars. Again, no reputation of past transactions with anyone here and nobody knows you. Just as a seller on eBay with a zero next to their name, a potential shopper will commonly not even bid because there is good chance the seller might take the money and run. Its not a fraternity here, but we do look out for one another like family, which we are. As many stated, those same cigars are readily available and also for a much lower price than you are offering to sell. As many members have pointed out, the deal is not really a deal because we can get them for much less. Unfortunately, if they are selling for that price in your area, then you probably overpaid and will not be able to sell them to much of anyone who knows better. On a cigar forum, we all know better. You are more than welcome to stick around and get to know all of us, even post cigars for sale, but do keep in mind that this is a public forum.
