So today was my first brew day and it was a fairly tame and easy recipe. The Ms. bought me an 6.6 lb extract kit along with some starter equipment for valentines day. While I will be going all grain on my next brew forward, I figured I'd put the northwestern gold ale extract to use.
I'm also only doing 1 gallon brews for the first little while until I get some recipes down that I know I'll drink a lot of.
Using beer smith I was easily able to scale the amount of extract malt, amount of hops (which I bought separately) and amount of time I'd need to turn out a good IPA. (which will remain to be seen)
Hit my target OG of 1.170, still looking forward to 60 IBU, 7.0 ABV, 13.6 SRM.
