Well, looks like using snow packed around the keggle to cool the wort doesnt work so well. Took way too long and didn't get a good cold break. I will never chill my wort without an immersion chiller again.
those are GREAT pics! man, the sight of carboys with a nice head of krausen... just makes the holiday season that much more special .
I'm with you on the immersion chiller, in fact, my next project is actually to hook up a pump to the hose and after the first 15 minutes that brings it down around 90 F, stick one end of the hose(with the pump on the end) in a bucket filled with ice water and recirculate, using less water and turning the last 20 minutes into about 5 or less.
