I have gas:

I have heat:

I also have frozen pipes. Some in my master bathroom (believe it or not) but after 3 hours with the heat on they started to thaw out. Smile
I have one pipe that is still frozen, a spigot outside that I use to drain the main line with. Hopefully, I'll be able to threw it out tomorrow. My downstairs thermostat is also acting weird. I gather the wires got wet as they run thru the crawl space. So I might have to run a new line from the furnance to the thermostat.
It was so cold, the inside temperature of the house was below 40 degrees today. Getting the heat working today was huge.
Making progress but after every turn another obstacle gets in the way. Salt water sucks when it gets into places it shouldn't be.

AHHHH, you have gas!

RE: Hurricane Sandy - MaytagMan - 01-26-2013

Jimmie, did that cooktop come with those white knobs, or did they originally come black? (Sorry, old appliance guy curiosity).

And I am going to pass up making a "Jimmie has gas" joke... for now...

RE: Hurricane Sandy - Jimmie the Mum - 01-27-2013

LOL, Bill if I remembered correctly they came black but white was an option.

Well, mostly everything is fixed! All utilities are now working. Pipes are thaw and no breakage. Chris1980 came down and helped me find the break in the thermostat wire and he did a few other things for me.

In another week or so I'll start the taping and spackle, painting etc.

The town gave me a blue sticker for the cars which allows us to sleep at the house and go out after curfew.

Took a ride up to the ocean and the town started to re build the boardwalk:

RE: Hurricane Sandy - Jimmie the Mum - 02-16-2013

I started the inside of the beach house today. A few ceilings are cracked from a combination of Sandy, no heat and general settling of the house. This room was really bad so I figure I would tape, Spackle and paint.

I had to cut out the old tape, what a mess:

Tape and the first coat of spackle:

RE: Hurricane Sandy - The Diamond Lion - 02-19-2013

Glad to hear things are started to get back to normal, Jimmie. A lot of hard work!

RE: Hurricane Sandy - Jimmie the Mum - 03-27-2013

Well I got that room all spackle and painted:

Not easy painting the ceiling and walls a different color:

The finished look:

Onto the next room.
