At one time they produced civilian products such as electrical outlets and buttons, all imprinted with the famous Colt logo. This rarely-seen âThe Courtship of Lady Nicotineâ humidor is made of bakelite, a plastic material that was highly popular in the 1930s. It has been decorated with a geometric Art Deco design on the front and back, the front opens to reveal a set of compartments for cigars (or cigarettes), a lighter or matches and a striker that could â in a pinch â also be used as an ashtray. Two compartments can be removed,(ashtray and striker) as shown. This is an ORIGINAL, as shown by the imprint of the words âCOLTâS PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO HARTFORD CONNâ found when the striker compartment is removed. This âbookâ measures 6 1/2 inches tall, five inches across and 1 3/8 inches thick. The Colt Plastics Division didnât last long and was sold during World War II as the company concentrated on gun manufacturing for the military. [/color]
