trying something new (Watches)
#1
OK, I officially have a lot of watches. In all 26 batteries!
How much does a jeweler or dive shop charge for a battery change? (I tend to use my local dive shop for my dive watches, they do a great job with the pressure testing).
I am frightened at the pending bill. So...
Yesterday, knowing that I will need to reset all of my watches on 3/1 anyway, I pulled the crown on all of them stopping them all thus conserving the battery. I am going to simply set my watches each night or morning then when I retire it to the box shut it off (pull the crown).
Some of my watches have tons of complications including month, day, date, GMT (24 hour), alarm, dual time zone, and setting these are a nightmare, so we'll see. One positive aspect (besides the battery thing) would be that I should maintain my memory on how each of the movements work and not have to try to remember every other month when I typically need to change them.
Ironically, my automatics are not an issue. The watches that requires to be worn will always be fully wound as they are in automatic watch winder boxes.
