no more smoking
#1
It looks like there will be no more public smoking left in KS. The governor says he will sign a bill banning smoking in public. The only exceptions are tobacco shops, state run casinos, designated hotel rooms, and private clubs.

Bummer.

Notice the little exemption they left themselves - STATE RUN CASINOS
Nothing like a monopoly.

Sorry to hear this.

As usual the boistrous "Moral Minority" will once again get their way!!!

When will the insanity end??? In public??? GOD Forbid!!! These people have already removed us from inside public buildings, restaurants and bars and now the only other place that a smoker can go to enjoy something as American as apple pie, will no longer be available to us. We will now have to hide in basements and back alleys, like a drug addict, to enjoy something that has been part of this country since before the Pilgrims stepped foot on this land. It is alarming...consider this...you could be in your car driving down the road, it is a beautiful spring day, you have your window rolled down, a stogie in hand, you are subsequently stopped by the "Smoking Police" and cited for smoking in public. This could be considered "Smoking in Public."

What's next...they ban matches???

Sorry about the above rant. I hadn't read the bill that the Gov. was signing. Post rant I went to the website below and read the bill. It is still alarming, but my interpretation is that smoking isn't allowed in restaurants, bars and public buildings or within 10 feet of a doorway or window... You may still smoke in your car without fearing the "Smoking Po Po." Please read bill.

If ever they pass some garbage like that, I'm locking my car doors while I'm driving. Obviously, ANYONE could simply enter my car as they wish, seeing how it's a "public place" and all. Tongue

You're right, Angel... it's absurd to the point of being stupid. While it's not against the law according to this particular bill, give these idiots time. THIS is what happens when you let them in the door.

Welcome to the club! We have been a smoke free state for a while.

Sorry guys but you're too late on the car thing. LOL Many states since 06 I think, ban smoking in cars with under 18 year olds. Arkansas was the first, then Vermont, Washington, Texas, Louisiana, Ontario, Puerto Rico, Bangor, California, Oregon and MANY more have it on the books.

What's a shame is that we are the minority in a dwindling tax base and they keep punnishing us. What happens when they tax and ban the industry out of business? Watch your wallets and take it to the polls.
