I have to say that I have had zero issues with my iphone 4.
I have it because the iphone in general is multi-functional for me because I travel so much.

Media plyer
wifi
Voip phone
Ipod
and obviously a phone
all in one package with a cable for charging instead of the 6 items listed above and their respective chargers etc.
As for signal strength ...... I cant get a signal in my house, but I have 2ft thick tradional brick walls and the house phone works fine so that is not an issue, everywhere else is absolutely fine ....... including down here in Africa.
All that being said though ....... I'm heading in the direction of an ipad real soon,
Again this is down to me travelling as light as possible, so an ereader that also downloads magazines, and a bigger screen for movies or TV series that I download for my trip away would be better than what I do now.
