I am not entirely sure I understand this?  If michigan lost in the middle of the season it would have probably been to Wisconsin or ND and the world would be a vastly different place. . . . :-P

all joking aside, could you elaborate on what you meant, I ma curious.

Colby, what I'm saying is this- If this was week 7 of the season, and everything else was the same, Florida would not have jumped Michigan in the polls. For example

Michigan is 6-1 and already lost to OSU in the same game. Say they played in week 3. They are ranked 3rd, and USC is second and loses to anyone (except MAYBE OSU). Michigan has a bye week.

OSU has a bye  and is 7-0.

Florida is 6-1, ranked fourth, and beats Arkansas at home or on the road in the exact same game.

OSU ould stay #1

Michigan would go to #2

Florida would NOT jump Michigan, and would be voted in, properly, to #3 in the polls.

Make more sense?

yes I suppose, theoretically, it does.  There is still too much objectivity in this system for me,  the solution:

#1 Ohio State
#8 Boise State

#4 LSU
#5 USC

#3 Michigan
#6 Louisville

#2 Florida
#7 Wisconsin

and you know the rest :-P

bingo!  this is what we've been needing for time in memorium.  but there's too many dollars at play to change it from the current b/s system.
