Tank's Birthday Weekend
#1

I was out west for some work (as in my job), more work stripping the cabin, and family reunion.  It was also my birthday on reunion day.  My buddy Mike came in from the Twin Cities and at the reunion my little bro brought out my kids.  Here are some pics.  When I was out by myself on June 4 it was 84 degrees.

What was your weekend worth?  Here is what mine was worth:

Ah the sunset with a good stick and libation!  And temps still in the 70's.

TWO DAYS LATER!

A little south of us had an inch of snow.  Months ago when this was planned we expected temps in the 80's and sunny.  This day temps dropped from the 40's to into the 30's and rain came.  Then for about an hour there was falling snow.  One June 6 if you can believe?

The days before and after the reunion were spent stripping the cabin.  My buddy Mike came into town to help.

We got half done on Memorial Weekend and now our hopes were to finish this past weekend.  We got it done despite the bitter cold both weekends.  We initially got decent weather then it turned sour very fast.

This is the stipped wood treated.  The red is the latest wet application and the gold is how it turns out when it dries.  The brown to the left is unstripped parts of the cabin.

Dinner that night.  I had these ribs in the oven all day then put them out on the grill when it was close to dinner time:

Then it was time to drink and smoke.  Here is our neighbor who has some property in Honduras.  He brought over some Zino sticks and we drank Flor de Cana rum:

And we had some dried beef that is his family recipe dating back a couple of hundred years:

These ribs turned out great although I am but a rib beginner.  I slow cooked them in some Pampered Chef stoned cookwear.  Then put them on the grill.

Smoked ribs I am sure would be a whole better step for sure!
