Poker (Bad Beat Story)
#1
Man I had a rough night of poker last night.

The maddening thing about it all is that I feel I was playing my best poker ever.
I noticed everything... put everyone on their hands... wasn't intimidated by anyone...

But the cards just would not come.
Got blinded down to short stack before long.

Had to make something happen soon or the blinds would have knocked me out.

Finally I got a pocket pair
(7-7)

I pushed all-in.
Two callers. One had AK the other AQ.

So here I am short stacked.
I'm statistically AHEAD at this point (pre flop) and my two callers are sharing big cards, eliminating some of their outs.

I'm feeling pretty good.
Good shot at a tripple up.

Nope... An Ace hits on the turn and I'm busted.
7-7 was my best hand all night... sick.

Same kind of crap in the cash game afterwards.

If I lose and I'm playing bad... ok
But man it hurts to have to watch a tourney pass you buy.

.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

That sucks CG! There are just some nights when the cards don't fall and you have to play the best you can. Seems like you did all that you could.

I've seen Floyd have those nights at the poker nights for the cigar club. NOT a pretty sight. Sometimes the cards are not there. other times its operator err.

Balanced the universe last night with an In the Money finish online.

Not 1st place like I would have liked... but 15 out 596 (turning $18 into $100) was still fun.

I got some cards there.
Heck... I flopped a flush twice. Big Grin

There is nothing you can do when the cards are not there, you can be aggressive but in the smaller groups with many amateur players being aggressive does very little.

Yeah my table was really loose and/or stupid.  Big Grin
It was very hard to build chips on aggression alone

Played at the FUMARE "Smoker Poker" Tournament last weekend.

Threw away what would have been two winning Full Houses and a Nut Flush. Played everything else. LOL

The blinds were going up ever two minutes, so I didn't last long.
No Reserve, No Retreat, No Regrets!!!
