The Big Smoke
#1
Anyone going, everytime I think about it I remember all the reasons I have going Las Vegas.  Beside it the Big Smoke is pricy, but they have sold out most of the packages to eager beavers.

Maybe I am cheap, well I will admit I am cheap, but IMHO I can hit local events, and maybe not get the totals Big Smoke Experence, but I Ok with that.

I still vas elation on head up for the day, to see my cousin I have not seen in 40 years.  He lives in Sin City, said I can stay with him, he will pick me up at the airport, run me back & forth.  It what he does, he supplements his retirement with UBER.

After look at the web-site I still say why?

I volunteered at many Big Smokes in NY working the Studio Tobac / Nub /  Oliva booths.
Always had a blast giving out stogies & mingling with various owners / reps of other companies etc.
It was tough work but tons of fun.

Having done that for so many years I'm not sure I would actually pay to get in. You do get lots of stogies but only a handful are ones I would (personal opinion) actually smoke.
However, I think everyone should attend at least one of them, just for the experience.

Here's a link when I worked at the Leccia Booth in 2015:

That's funny about what you say about the handouts.  I not a mod person, I into small groups.  One of the local shops had a "fest" event, I got there wall to wall people, decided it was too crowded.

May shoot up one day just to see the cousin, and head down to the venue.

OK looked at photo, hope I don't freek em out if I head to Sin City, I a blue jeans, sweat shirt kind of guy.  But I got a great credit score.

Too funny, if you noticed that's all we wear are jeans etc. Most of the rps are required to be dressed up etc but not us and certainly not the paying customers.

I've never been to a big cigar event, like the Big smoke.

While I'd like to go to one sometime, I haven't for a few reasons.
1)  I've got 4 kids, 1 of which has just started college.  Any extra spending money, while not much, goes towards the kids first.
2)  I'm just a little fish in the ocean... I don't think I could fit in with most of the big fish that seem to attend these events, I'd feel way out of place & not comfortable. I'm Tonto, the guy in the shadows, behind the scene, not the Lone Ranger. (no disrespect intended to the members here)

3) My health hasn't been the best for a few years (I am getting better) & I don't travel as well as I used to.

Attending a small herf with StogieChat members is more my speed.  I'm making plans to attend Jimmie's Fall PA herf next year.  After that, maybe the next StogieChat meet up in Mohegan Sun & then in Las Vegas.  Those are the real Big Shows to me.

I also wear jeans, 99.9% of the time...dress up to me is wearing a pair of black jeans.   Big Grin

Well I like going to local events in and around town. Plus I don't like Las Vegas that much any more. Las Vegas use to be reasonable, remember when I was hauling structural steel up to build the Bellagio, I would get up their early, the guard would open the gate to the drop area. I would walk across the street to the old Barbery Coast if I recall the name. Staeak, three Eggs, Hashbrowns, Choice of Bread, and Coffe was like $4.00 12A-6A (special). Then it was into the Sleeper until 0700, unload, and one to pickup dry wall. That was like 1996-1997.

Last time I was up there the place changed names, and like the rest of the good food deal were replaced by pricy food. Hotel rooms got pricy. Even most of the famous buffet were replaced with big name chef opening pricy Resturants.

Everything changes but not for the better. Still on fence as I would like to go one day, and see cousin.
