Heard some fair to poor reviews on this cigar when they first came out. Wondering if some of you have smoked more of the first batch to see how they are coming along.THANKS

Not as of yet, I have them put away for a deep sleep. I would say they need at least another three years minimum.

My initial impression was that they wont be ready for a long time.  Still too early to check them again.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Didn't deslike it but it didn't wow me either. I agree that some time is needed before revisiting.

WOW, thanks for the feedback. So do you guys think that it will still have strength or just be really flavorful? Thanks

I really can't say as I don't have that much experience with following a cigars change over time. this is new ground for me. What I remember of my experience smoking this cigar was the first half was a real treat, it had the typical HDM profile except some  what amplified. The second half it just lost it's balance and went down hill from there.

It will be interesting to see how it develops over time. I will pay them a visit sometime next fall perhaps and take note of any change.

Thanks fish. I did see the review awhile back and after reading it again I definitetly see what you guys are saying about them needing rest. Sounds like it has good potential thou. I might have to get a couple of singles.

I fired one up a few months ago and really enjoyed it.  Have one still resting in the humidor and I will break it out before too long.

Decided to give these ELs another try today and a 1/4 of the way through it appears they are developing quite well. They were pretty blah when young, almost regrettable. The last one I tried perhaps 1 1/2 years ago was an improvement over the previous but kind of died down towards the last half. I'm hoping it's not going to happen to this one.

It opens up so nicely it made me dig up this thread. It reminds me of a cafe con leche, it's very creamy with coffee and notes of cedar. The spice is present but it's relatively mild. Some cigars blast you with pepper from the get go but this one gives you just the right amount to keep you engaged and then it gradually builds.

I'm towards the middle now and the creaminess has dissipated, it's more straight forward as it gives away to a cedary tone almost obscuring the coffee. It's picking up the spice as it made me sneeze for the first time when I exhaled again through the nose. I kind of wish that it had maintained that coffee and cream profile of the opening but even though it lost some complexity it's still appealing.

I walk away thinking that more time is still needed before this cigar can be fully appreciated but it shows sufficient promise that next time I smoke one I'm going to plan the event around a complete meal. Patience is a requirement of this hobby and I like a cigar that makes me look forward to it.
