Didn't want to put this in dog rockets just yet, but I cant give it a good review at this time. It came in a sampler of Gurkha Micro batch I got this week. I think it just needs some time (Years?) in the humidor. It was on the dry side and wanted to peel in spots. too easy to light and the smoke was harsh and stout. like I had poured pepper in my mouth. the burn was not uneven but very irregular, like saw teeth. the ash was flakey, but held for an inch or so. I tried very hard to wrestle this one down but half was all I could take. I like Gurkha in general and the Regents are superb. I think with time, this one will tone down and become smokeable. I am going to let the whole sampler chill in the humi a while before I try another.

P.S. OMG! who invented retrohaling? This was the wrong stick for me to try that! All I can smell is that gurkha.

sounds like it was a bit dry. Let it rest a bit and try again.

I've only tried the VH-7, and they were quite nice.

Jollymon! I remember years back when Gurkha first appeared on the shelves of a local retailer in New Hampshire. The prices were insane. Pretty labels, fancy boxing with canvas wraps. One day I finally broke down and bought a couple. Not too bad. But I couldn't justify the price of $10 to $15 a stick. Bought them again and they tasted GREAT. Bought them again and they tasted like crap. A couple of years passed and I saw them at CI and CBid for cheap CHEAP money. They soon disappeared from the retailers shelves. Now you can get the Regents and Masters for what they're really worth but Gurkha as I'm sure you know has become this cigar mill, churning out new stuff seemingly every few months. Gimmicky.

But I must defend Hansotia in that now and then he does produce a great cigar. A couple of Christmases ago I was given a box of the Micro Batch Liga S-2's. I was pleasantly surprised. A great cigar. So are the others in the Micro Batch series in my opinion anyway. They are always in my humidor. I just recently discovered the Gurkha Shaggy. Another hit by Hansotia. Medium body, nutty, creamy, coffee. And excellent cigar.

I'd recommend grabbing another 5-pack of the S-2 and let them rest for a few weeks in your humidor.

I enjoy the Regents quite a bit. there are a couple of the micro batch sticks I like but the S-2 was like smoking tire rubber and used copenhagen in a wrapper made from a homeless guys underwear. I tried one again the other day, same results. I am hoping more time in the humi will improve them.

The regents are a great smoke. But they have been discontinued cause they were too expensive to make.
The Master Select was a great smoke but they changed the blend cause it was too expensive to make
Gurkha is confused. They trash great cigars for the $ then they come out with those god aweful luis the 13th infused garbage for $2,000 a box.

I do not loke anything Gurkha has out now. Very flat profile. Having said that I still have a few regents and original master selects in my humidors. I also have a few of their very rare pre-embargo cigars, one of which I smoked last weekend at the Mohegan Sun.
