Cuban Cigars
01-16-2008, 06:57 PM
Post: #1
Cuban cigars are illegal in the United States, except for pre-embargo cigars which are very rare and extremely expensive. If U.S. citizens attempt to buy, own or bring any Cuban cigars into the U.S., they may be subject to fines and other penalties, depending on the particular circumstances.

Cuban Assets Control Regulations, 31 C.F.R. Part 515, (Revised September 30, 2004) are administered and enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Criminal penalties for violation of the Regulations can go as high as $1 million for corporations, and $250,000 for individuals plus up to 10 years in prison. In addition, civil penalties of up to $65,000 per violation can be imposed by OFAC.

This is a public forum which can be read by anyone online, including the authorities who enforce these regulations.   Since this forum has a worldwide audience and members from all over the world, we do allow posts about Cuban cigars.   Members from the USA are advised to post with extreme caution, as Stogiechat, its owners and moderators will NOT be responsible for any loss, legal action, or other instance resulting from illegal activity/transactions.

For any "trolls" who wonder in the door asking about Cubans and where to get them....you will be given a swift kick in the arse and your membership terminated.   Any StogieChat members receiving such offending solicitations or requests for Cuban sources should forward the PM to a moderator or the admin for further action.

9/2009 Update:  Please do not post links to Cuban cigar sources/retailers.   While the forum serves a worldwide market we do request that links to sites selling Cuban cigars are kept in the retailer section.   Informative links are welcome.

Cubans are illegal? What about Mexicans and Italians?

.

We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

Yes, great thread!  Its just not worth the legal issues to even try to own a Cuban cigar.  Anyways, I like the Nicaraguan blends better and they cost less!
